G crams her backpack full of stuffed birds, and whatever else strikes her fancy at the moment.

For awhile she had a bunch of underutilized blocks taking up valuable cubic inches, until i moved them, and she stuffed in more birds.   Sometimes her backpack is hard to close, but leaving something out is not an option.   She is very adamant about this, and I’m worried she will have problems with its size next time we have to get on an airplane.

Her backpack is like my laptop.   Or one of the iPhone ads with Jay Z.   Its all the things she needs, really really needs.   She can pretty much entertain herself for ~20 minutes 2-2.5 times a day with what she’s got in the backpack, multiply that by 2 if she has an accomplice.   She gets upset sometimes when the backpack gets left overnight at school.   She gets upset sometimes when we forget to bring the backpack to school.   I think its contents makes a lot of friends, or at least make her popular.

She was very upset when she left it at school en route to her meeting Gianna and Aran.   She really wanted to play birds with her new friends.   Its like showing up at a party with a good bottle of tequila, you make friends and flaws are overlooked.   Something I am going to try at my cousin’s wedding next month.   There is much wisdom in that backpack.

  1. Everybody needs a bird, or two, or three, or four, or more. Birds have nice, soft, feathers. Birds are our friends. See the nice birdy. Say hello to the birdy.
